Holly Jolly No Tsunami: Weekend Outlook

Holly Jolly No Tsunami: Weekend Outlook

by Kara Woroniec

Experience the charm of Spaulding Marine Center's historic shipyard from 5-9 pm, Thursday, December 5, during their annual Winter Open House event. Meet artist and designer, Emma Casey of Landfall Leatherworks among other makers, while enjoying hot cider and live music by The Dirt Farm Duo. Emma transforms worn sails, some from her own voyages, into gorgeously durable bags in various shapes and sizes. Get gifts, and gather inspiration from her craft. Ask Emma about how her days spent at sea have informed her perspective on sustainability.

Friday, December 6, visit Leigh Wells' Open Studio on Opening Evening in her new space at ICB (Industrial Center Building) Studio 345A from 5-8pm or over the weekend, December 7-8, 11am-5pm. This is ICB’s biggest event of the year, where more than 70 artists open their studio doors for weekend and invite visitors to see their working spaces, and catch their creative waves.

Saturday, December 7, find more Open Artist Studio events along Gate 5 Road on Varda Landing and at Marinship Studios. Look for the gate shaped like a wave at 247 Gate 5 Road. Beyond the wave gate you'll find Tracey Kessler's latest works "Of the Muses," December 7-8th from 12 -5 pm. Oversized mosaics hang as pendants and emit ethereal vibes to adorn any wall space calling for jewelry. Seek enchantments from Olivia Pelligra to discover beautiful handmade dolls, ornaments and garments. Fall in love with Danielle Kinnen and her ceramic pieces that exude the same beauty, humor and joy she shows in personality at the Gate 5 Clay: Holiday Party and Sale. Open hours are Saturday, December 7th, 12–5pm and Sunday, December 8th, 12–4pm.
